About three years ago, we have done a trip around the world and totally fell in love with this wonderful country. (Postings from the past, here and here) New Zealand reminds us a little bit of Austria with the difference that a deep blue ocean is attached to the endless of beauty in the nature.
We were very sure that we will be back one day and once we started planning our recent trip around the world, we knew we want at least another month of traveling in one of these cool camper vans.
Coming from a short stay over in Sydney, which we spend with our dear friends (Patricia and Alex from hochzeitswahn.de) we landed in Auckland and found a great hospitality at Kate and Jonathan Holland’s place. Some of you will know Kate from her amazing work with Magnolia Rouge, blog and magazine.
They are amazing and we had a couple of fun days with them before we hit the road in a crazy camper van from Escape Rentals. Just like the one we had three years ago.
Since we did not get any further north of Auckland during the first visit we had new territory to explore. WOW and we found STUNNING places on this relatively small area on the northern island.
Those lonely, endless beaches and countless bays with turquois colored water and white sand made us speechless more than once. We were driving on the beach (90 mile), riding sand dunes and counting sheep. Seriously, the far north of New Zealand blew our minds and even painted the already beautiful picture new.
Coming from a country like Austria, we have seen a lot of beautiful night skies and millions of stars, but the nights we experienced this time were so crystal clear and impressive, that we hardly wanted to sleep. We lack of superlatives!
Spoiled with such amazing experiences and great weather we headed further down to the most south point of the northern Island to meet some special people again. Wellington! Three years ago, we met Peppo and Gil, an elderly couple we lost our hearts to. We wanted to know how they are doing and spending some time with them. They are the loveliest people in this world. The love for each other seems to be the maximum possible. If we only can be like this when we get old and care for each other like they do!
Their son and daughter in law also got friends of us and it was one of the highlights in New Zealand to meet and hang out with them. Thank you guys for the fun time!
It was about time to head back to Auckland again and meet our friends Nadia and Eddy. Our very own big wedding day got closer and we could not wait to elope on Waiheke Island on 12. February 2014.
Yes we did it and if you would like to see how that looked like, Nadia had produced some of her best work till date and we couldn’t be happier of how she treasured our love for us forever. If you have not seen it yet, be sure you check out her post after you finished reading and looking here below :)
Happily ever after! Love from Munich
